Each of these steps will help you build stronger practices and relationships in your business – that’s always a good thing – and no one is looking for overnight solutions nowadays.
So relax, you can incorporate these concepts into your business bit by bit but in the end, you will walk away with a more sustainable business than ever before.
REVIEW
One way to discover ways you can transform your business is with new innovative ideas. Review how things once worked and how those can be streamlined or even disregarded. Conducting daily reviews with everything going on is extremely important. Keeping a detailed document of your reviews can keep you focused on what’s important while addressing issues that need changing.
This will ensure you are not wasting any time, money, or effort on activities that do not move your business forward.
Set some time aside to assess:
- What’s not working?
- What areas are frustrating for you or your team?
- What needs are new or different now?
- What can be improved or done differently?
- What can you stop doing altogether?
- What’s missing?
- Where are the gaps in your business, budget, or knowledge?
- What works well?
Once you have your answers, create an action plan, divide the plan into doable goals, and get to work!
RECONNECT
Successful businesses are built on relationships. Without them, there are no clients, customers, vendors, or employees.
Though many businesses are moving back to normal, some are still in work-from-home mode. While isolation may not be something you can stop right away, that doesn’t mean you don’t need to reach out and reconnect with those important people that have made your business what it is.
Building and investing in relationships could be the most important step you take in protecting the future of your business. Here are a few suggestions:
- Reach out to your existing clients.
- Have a conversation with them about how they are doing.
- How best can you serve them at this time?
- What do they value most about your services, products, and exchanges?
- What do they need right now that you can offer?
- Use this information to help you build for the future.
- Introduce an interim offer to support them right now.
REINVEST
Now is a great time to reinvest in alternative ways to do business and add value for your clients. Think about what changes you can make, if possible to operate under our current conditions, which would add more value to your brand.
It can help to go back to your Why – the reason you started your business in the first place. This might throw some light on what you can offer right now that’s different, but still fully aligned to your purpose.
Things to remember as you reinvest:
- Get creative, think out of the box, take a risk or two.
- Leave perfection behind.
- It is a great time to test out new ideas and concepts. without them necessarily being fully formed or perfect.
- Put what you’ve learned into practice.
Right now, everyone is moving fast trying to adapt to our new world, so no one is expecting anything polished. New ideas and concepts don’t have to necessarily be fully formed or perfect. Take a chance to see what works and what doesn’t.
THIS TIME NEXT YEAR
Obviously you can do everything at once. Nor can you be foolish and try anything or everything. The last thing you want right now is more pressure and anxiety!
But it’s a time in our economic history to take a few calculated risks as we’ve never done before. You don’t want to look back at this time a year from now and have more regrets.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
- What can I do to help myself and others succeed through these challenging conditions?
- Where do I see myself a year from now?
- What will I regret most if I don’t try it now?
- What’s the greatest fear that’s holding me back?
One of the best things you can do is to join in with a group of like-minded business owners like our TAB Roundtables. You won’t be alone in your struggles or decisions. You may have the answers someone else needs and you may find some new ideas that you’ve never thought of.
